Coronation Power to hold second series of public exhibitions of its wind farm proposals

23 October 2006

Coronation Power is to hold a second series of exhibitions in the Rochdale area next month to share its wind farm proposals with local residents and community representatives. The exhibitions relate to Coronation Power’s proposed wind farm developments at Crook Hill, near Wardle; Reaps Moss, near Bacup and Todmorden Moor, Todmorden.

In May 2006, Coronation held separate exhibitions for the three schemes to provide people living and working in the area with information about the company’s proposals together with details about the potential benefits to the area should the schemes be granted planning approval by the relevant planning authorities. It was also an opportunity for people to comment on the Coronation schemes and the company’s proposed package of measures designed to help the local area, such as energy efficiency grants and assistance for community-based projects.

The second series of exhibitions, to be held in November (details below), is another opportunity for local people to learn more about the proposals before Coronation Power finalises its plans that will be submitted for planning approval before the end of this year.

Each of the exhibitions will feature a virtual reality tour showing how any future development might look from a number of local viewpoints. Members of the Coronation Power team will be on hand to answer questions and to discuss issues relating to the three wind farm schemes, the impact on the area and the potential economic and environmental benefits to the area if the wind farms are built.

Charley Rattan, Coronation Power’s Community Relations Manager said: “We are keen for people to visit our exhibitions so they know the facts about our schemes and have the opportunity to comment on our plans before we finalise our planning applications.”

“Along with the various other meetings that we have held with local groups and individuals over recent months, we regard the three exhibitions as a key part of our commitment to share our plans with local communities throughout the development and planning process. They will help to address any misconceptions that some people might have about our plans as well as encourage supporters of renewable energy to publicly express their enthusiasm towards our schemes.”
